Our lunchtime match was away at Taverham in fine weather. As we walked onto the pitch, the Broadland goalkeeper announced to a friend that she had never played in goal before...happy days! So, play started but Broadland were prepared and had some strong forwards who, worryingly, kept play at our end of the pitch. Luckily, we had equally strong defenders in Emma Tolhurst, Gillian Stokes and Daphne Beckett who made short work of sending the ball to our forwards. At one point, the Broadland goalkeeper went for a diving save and whilst prostrated on the ground, Jo Meyer seized the chance to smash the ball into the goal.
At half time, we decided that everything was going well so the second half began with our team raring to go. Georgie Saunders played superbly, and Lily Smith was always racing up the right wing. Ali Buck in goal made some excellent saves. Then, Broadland had a long corner, which they managed to score from. However, all was not lost because Holly Archer swept the ball into the Broadland circle, the goalkeeper seemed the miss the ball and Annie Lancaster pushed the ball home.
