The Womens 2s headed to Peterbourgh despite weather troubles for a potentially very rainy match. Fortunately, the weather held up for the duration although concerns didn’t end there.
We started the match with no subs due to travel troubles but came out of the gates hard despite this. With a strong press and good composure on the ball we dominated early on and the leg work paid off with a strong strike from Lizzie at 15 minutes to put us 1-0 up. We then gained a sub and quickly started rotations, keeping the intensity up although tiring. Half time came with magpies leading 1-0.
The second half was thankfully much less eventful with Magpies holding a confident press still and Kira relieved the pressure on the right, transferring the ball to keep possession. We fought off some short corner scares as the game progressed and Catherine made some essential saves. The match ended with Magpies still 1-0 up.
Thanks to everyone for battling the elements to get there & well deserved 3 points.
Player of the match - Lisa, great legwork in the press & hassling.
Wally of the week was our very own Lexi
