Magpies 2’s this weekend faced Dereham 1’s. An open start to the match with both teams wanting to play expansive and free flowing hockey. Generally magpies had a stronger start in all positions. Issy scored a cracking goal threw open play within the twelfth minute. At this point both teams began to settle into the game. The on going pressure from magpies lead to a series of shorts. One of these shorts lead to Debbie scoring right before half time.
In the second half Dereham continued to fight hard with a couple of good counter attacks. However magpies continued to control most of the play. This lead to many more corners, which within the 55th minute Kira scored a cracking strike. The game continued with Dereham beginning to become frustrated and the heat getting to everyone. Magpies 4th goal within the 65th minutes came from some beautiful play from Lucy Field to then pass into Lexi Foster who dribbled around some players and flicked over the goalies head. A solid win from magpies and an enjoyable watch for all the spectators.
